Introduction
Sunward Medical, LLC is built around a method for respiratory disease diagnostics christened, 'The Savic Monitor' after its inventor and our licensor and CTO, Dr. Michael Savic. The system consists of an electronic stethoscope connectable to a computer that runs an analysis and diagnostic software package that is the core/proprietary technology in the system. The analysis software can be separated from the signal feed system which is connected to the stethoscope enabling remote and point of care diagnosis as well.
The Following is a video demonstration of the Savic Monitor Prototype back-end process
This is a demonstration video illustrating the processes of the Savic Monitor Ver 1.0, which is a prototype of our automated auscultation process. Sunward Medical LLC is a Troy, NY based biomedical company seeking to test and commercialize this technology for use on such devices as the Android Smart phones, iPhones, and other related hand-held devices. The hand-held device comprises a mini-USB electronic stethoscope connected to the device, that will allow a person to capture lung sounds by placing the stethoscope against the chest of a test patient. The sounds are then transmitted to a remote server hosted by Sunward Medical for testing and a response is sent back to the hand-held device comprising a result of what respiratory issues the test patient might have. The iPhone/Android application is a two touch user interface, the first touch to initiate recording, and the second to initiate testing. The back end process is illustrated in the video above, but is not visible to the hand-held device user. The recording processes takes less than a minute and the results can be generated within a minute from the back-end server to the hand-held device. The underlying technology is patented, with several additional, related patents pending in the United States and internationally. Current Status of the Product
The software is in its development stage and can be embedded into hardware in future iterations of the product. The patent is registered to Dr. Savic for the software analysis and decision making part of the system and is assigned to Sunward Medical, LLC.
The Savic Monitor will eventually enable:
1) Remote, Point-of-Care diagnostics of respiratory diseases.
2) Lower diagnostic costs to health centres, patients and insurance companies.
3) Significantly higher accuracy as explained below.
4) Costs of development is high but with economies of learning, the costs of manufacturing are lower.
Current technologies in the market for primary respiratory diagnosis is human labor intensive (auscultation, breath tests) leading to about 40% accuracy in results. The Savic System shows promise of higher than 95% accuracy during raw testing. We have huge pricing advantages since our software allows higher accuracy, economic cost benefits and lesser tangibles.
